St. Louis
The St. Louis branch is hosted by Congregation Chai v’Shalom in the Dogtown neighborhood of St. Louis, and also partners with King of Kings Lutheran Church in Chesterfield, Missouri.
Prior to the building of the World’s Fair in 1904, Dogtown was the home of the first Jewish hospital in St. Louis, and the Jewish Orphans Home in St. Louis. With the influx of Irish immigrant labor for the building of the World’s Fair, the Jewish community moved west, and is located along the I-64/40 corridor in St. Louis, from the Central West End in the city out to Chesterfield in West St. Louis.
While no longer the center of Jewish life, Dogtown remains a vibrant community and many Jewish people live and work there. It’s location on the center corridor of I-64/40 makes it a great place to live and work, and is easily accessible.
