The mission of LIJE is two-pronged:
- to provide and promote direct evangelism to Jewish communities in the U.S.
- to educate the church body regarding the need for evangelism and the richness of the Jewish roots of Christianity.
The annual spring banquet for LIJE took place April 17, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Delray Beach, Florida.
Dr. Paul Maier was the guest speaker. Everyone held on to every word as he spoke on the "Twin Stigmas -- Jews and Christians."
Elaine Kiesel, a Jewish believer in Jesus as Messiah, gave a heart-warming testimony. Some in the audience had never heard a personal testimony. Elaine came to faith through her husband and is now a Lutheran day school teacher.
Pastor Kevin Parviz, director of LIJE, also gave his perspective of coming to Christianity from a Conservative Jewish background. He concluded the evening's program with the Aaronic Blessing in Hebrew.
